I havent' updated this in forever, but one of my students said something the other day that deserved to be on here. As some of you may know, my rabbit had baby rabbits. They are extremely cute. I've been asking my students if they would want a baby rabbit, and one of my students said "whatever you do, don't give one to Charles." "Why not?" I asked. The students replied, "I gave him a fish I caught and when he got home he poured out the water and watched it die." I looked at the accused student with a slightly horrified look on my face and he simply smiled and said, "I like to watch them flop."

Well, I'm am leaving tommorrow to go to Uganda for 11 months! To stay consistent, I don't plan on starting updating this blog with other than inane subject matter. So if you want to know more about our trip, you can do one of two things:

On another note, I saw the Simpsons Movie last night. It was very funny. I've been watching the Simpsons for so long, it sort of felt like seeing the Simpsons on the big screen was the culmination of my childhood. I will have to eventually watch that movie with my brother, though, as he finds the Simpsons even funnier than I do.

Baby things!

Ok, so here are some baby things. I seemed to come across a large number of them the weekend I went to New Braunfels to visit my parents.

Here's a baby lemur with Greg and I:

This was at the New Braunfels Snake Farm. It's like a small zoo. We also got to play with a baby Coatimundi...whatever that is. And another small baby tree creature that we were never quite able to figure out what it was.

Here's a video of the baby lemur, he thinks i'm a tree.

By the way, The lemur's feet kinda felt like frog feet. He didn't have claws at all, his paws were just....sticky.

We didn't just find baby things at the zoo, though. We also found a nest of baby nutrias (a.k.a. giant water rats) under a tree at Landa Park in New Braunfels. They're not quite so ugly when they're babies.

And to top it off, here's taxi, my brother-in-law's puppy:

Best Sushi in Town

I'm going to update soon, with lots of pictures of different baby things that I happened to encounter this past week, but for now I'm just going to tell you that if you live in Houston, go eat at Coco's Sushi Bar. It's in the Montrose area, and it tastes great! It also has very reasonable prices, with most pieces of sushi costing between $1.00 and $1.50. The owner there is also great, and she also makes you feel very welcome. She gave us a hug today because we told her we were leaving to go to Uganda. She acutally grew up in a Christian family in Japan, which is very unusual. (Christians make up less than 1% of Japan).

So go there! It's amazing. Best sushi I've had since I was in Japan.

Also, the owner will usually give you a free bottle of Sake if you order any alchohol.

note: They also serve you edamame there, which is something I also had never had since Japan.

Life for now

Life has taken a change in the past month. They are tearing down our apartments, so we moved in with my Grandma and Grandpa until we leave for Uganda.

Also, as seen from the last post, Larry died. Waffles, our other bunny, doesn't do so well by herself, so we found her a new home in Austin with a male bunny named Buns. I think Buns and Waffles will get along just fine.

In the begginning of the summer, Greg and I went to Jacksonville, Florida to see Greg's cousins and aunt and uncle, and had fun hanging out. We did things like eat lots of free Panera bread because Greg's cousin is a manager there, and go to St. Augustine, The united state's oldest city. There's an alligator farm there, too.

After Florida, we went to one of my favorite places ever, Mo-ranch. It's in the hill country, and we go there every year for our family reunion. It's a blast.

Larry the Bunny died yesterday. I loved Larry a whole lot, he was my little guy. I will miss him, and will always love him. He was an awesome little bunny. Here are some cool things about Larry:

-He was tough, and angry. He would attack just about anything that he thought needed attacking. He thought, no, he knew he was King.

-He loved Waffles the bunny. Sometimes he would even lick her head.

-He was really cute and fun to hold, even though he hated it.

-Sometimes he would lick your head!

-He was the Christmas bunny, and the best present I've ever gotten.

-He gave us tons of great stories and memories, like the time he headbutted my head.

-If you can think of any cool Larry memories, put them in the comments.

He was an awesome little guy. Here are some pictures of him.

My school is recognized this year! That means our kids scored well enough on the TAKS test to get a little banner on the outside of our school that says we're recognized. It's a better rating than "acceptable".

I'm proud of the kids, and happy that we were able to do it! Hardly any other middle schools in HISD are recognized, so this is a big deal!

Oh, and on the science, which a school in texas needed a 40 % passing rate to be considered acceptable (it was the 1st year for this, so they set it fairly low), we got a 70%, up 6% from last year!
